New underground power line in Brescia

Start of works for the new underground power cable to upgrade Brescia’s electrical infrastructure.

In February, COGET Impianti began the construction of a new 132 kV underground power line, connecting the Via XXV Aprile and Via della Ziziola electrical substations in the city of Brescia.

The creation of this infrastructure is an integral part of the action plan adopted by Terna to optimise Brescia’s power grid. The works will be carried out in a sequence of phases, designed to minimise the impact of the construction sites by moving operations gradually along the route.

The construction process will be structured as follows:

  • Creation of the necessary temporary construction site infrastructures
  • Clearance of the route and digging of the trench
  • Laying and jointing of the cables
  • Infilling of the trenches and finishing works
  • Installation of the terminations
  • Testing of the line

The route of the new cable duct runs entirely through a densely populated urban environment with a large number of underground utilities. It will be divided into seven sections along its length and will include five horizontal directional drilling operations, with a total length of 3.10 km.

Through this project, COGET Impianti will make a major contribution to improving the city’s power infrastructure. This will help to create a more efficient and reliable power grid, guaranteeing the wellbeing of Brescia’s residents and contributing to the community’s overall progress.
